PRE-QUALIFICATION FOR THE EPC TURNKEY TENDER ON THE KUDU POWER PROJECT

DESCRIPTION:

NamPower (Pty) Ltd, the national electricity utility of Namibia, is developing the Kudu 800MW CCGT Power Station near Oranjemund in south-western Namibia. The combined cycle power station project will use natural gas from the Kudu Gas Field which is located 170km off-shore. The power plant will be connected to the Namibian and South African power grids. Power from the plant will be purchased under long-term Power Purchase Agreements by NamPower for local and regional use. NamPower signed a Project Development Agreement (the PDA) with the Kudu Gas Field Upstream Developers on 1 March 2013, facilitating timelines to achieve financial close within the next 12 months. NamPower has appointed its transaction advisors consisting of Ernst & Young, Strategic International Advisory Limited, DLA Piper (UK) LLP and ESB International. The EPC (Engineering, Procurement and Construction) Turnkey Contractor for the Kudu Power Project shall be selected through a competitive bid process. Enquiry documents will be issued to pre-qualified tenderers in the 2nd quarter of 2013 and the EPC Turnkey Contractor will be selected by the 4th quarter of 2013. Companies seeking inclusion on NamPower’s short-list of pre-qualified tenderers will be invited to submit tenders for the construction of the Kudu CCGT power plant and will have to complete the pre-qualification questionnaire. Invited tenderers for the Kudu CCGT project will be selected from those companies who have submitted substantially completed questionnaires and who have subsequently qualified according to the requirements of NamPower's pre-qualification criteria.

DETAILS OF HOW TO SUBMIT THE TENDER:

Please submit one original and three copies of the questionnaire in a sealed envelope marked “Tender No. NPWR/2013/04: EPC Turnkey Tender Pre-Qualification Questionnaire for the KUDU Power Project”, and addressed to the Tender Administrator, NamPower Tender Board, NamPower Centre, 15 Luther Street, Windhoek, Namibia.
