Ohorongo Cement donates ambulance to Otavi

Ohorongo Cement Caption 1WINDHOEK – The town of Otavi has received an ambulance valued at N$348 000 from the community development trust of Ohorongo Cement.

The donation of the ambulance was made possible through a working partnership between Ohorongo and the German charity organisation Support E.V. The ambulance was presented to the town council during the fundraising dinner for the Otavi Investment Expo & Festival that took place last weekend.

“I trust that this ambulance will be put to good use and that it will assist in saving lives by transporting injured Namibians to the nearest hospital to get proper medical care. After all, a healthy community equals a healthy economy,” said Hans-Wilhelm Schütte, Managing Director of Ohorongo Cement.

Ohorongo Cement established the Ohorongo Otavi Community Trust when it started with the cement manufacturing plant three years ago. The trust focuses on the infrastructure, education and health care needs of the local community within the Otjozondjupa Region.

The trust, together with the German charity organisation Support E.V, has to date made donations worth N$2.4 million to various initiatives in the town of Otavi, as well as Tsumeb in the Oshikoto Region. Past donations included sunscreen creams and the setting up of an Albino corner, donations of hospital and specialised medical equipment, as well as wheelchairs and walking frames to the Tsumeb Private Hospital.
