VISITING MEMBERS OF THE GERMAN BUNDESTAG PARLIAMENTARY STANDING COMMITTEE FOR ECONOMIC COOPERATION & DEVELOPMENT MET WITH SPEAKER OF THE NATIONAL ASSEMBLY, 23 MAY 2016

Speaker of the National Assembly, Hon. Prof. Peter H. Katjavivi met with a delegation of visiting Members of Parliament of the German Bundestag Parliamentary Standing Committee for Economic Development and Cooperation earlier on 23 May 2016. The aim of the visit is to have meetings with members of the Namibian Parliament, members of the Government, Political Foundations and the NGO's as well as to visit Namibian-German development cooperation projects throughout the country. In his remarks to the visiting delegation, Speaker Katjavivi, with reference to the on-going dialogue over the 1904 genocide, he stated that from the Namibian Parliamentary perspective, "we want to achieve a win-win outcome, which will contribute to the healing of the wounds relating to our common past", and he continued to stress the importance of dealing with the matter in the most amicable way. cpa1

 

The German Bundestag delegation is led by Ms. Dagmar Wöhl (MP), accompanied by German Ambassador to Namibia, H.E Christian Schlaga.
